Kim Diehl- Something for everyone!

After a quick vacation in the sun, I am back to the freezing north east.  I don't mind though because I am still committed to working down my PTBF (Projects to be finished) basket.  A number of years ago I signed up for Kim Diehl's Simple Whatnots Club through a local quilt shop.  Each month you got a kit and pattern to make a small quilt.  I remember thinking at the time that these little cuties should be a snap to finish in a month.  Would you care to guess how many of the six were completed?  If you guessed zero, you are correct!  So....this weekend, I pulled out the kits and looked them over.  So darn cute!

I decided to make this little lovely which is called "Sunday Supper".

I know, I know!  It doesn't have binding yet but maybe that will get done tonight or.....maybe it will go to the QTBB (Quilts to be bound) pile.  I wasn't able to locate this kit online but I did find the pattern.  Click HERE for the PDF.  If you are interested in the current collection, which are also adorable, you can check them out by searching for Kim Diehl's Simple Whatnots Club or ask at your local quilt shop.

I have been a fan of Kim Diehl for quite a long time.  I love her use of color which gives traditional quilting a more contemporary look.

I also like the fact that she does traditional applique along with wool applique.....if you've been reading this blog for long, you know how much I love to work with wool.
Here is a little wool applique piece that I made from Kim's book Simple Graces.

Kim's books are full of beautiful patterns as well as great tips for improving your quilting and the photographs are amazing!  Now for the best news....there are free Kim Diehl patterns available and I know that you are going to love them.  Check these out.....
