Monday, January 20, 2014 Prepare to be amazed!

Hello again, friends!  Things have really been exciting for our family this last week.  My sister in law and brother just had two beautiful twin boys.  Of course, I started to think about things that I might make for my tiny new nephews but I didn't want just any old fabric for these sweeties so I took a look at a favorite site:  They have some of the most unique fabrics!    How cute is this Nautical Print?

And then there is this one with the blue adorable!
Not in the baby mood?  No problem!  Spoonflower has just about anything that you can imagine.
How about a trendy Moroccan Print?  It's available in a rainbow of colors!
Or maybe some Spring Birds for those of us who are tiring of winter...

Here is the neat thing about can order the design you like in a variety of cottons (including organic), linens, decorator weight, cotton voile, cotton silk, canvas and even knit!  How cool is that?
And as if that isn't enough.....if you can't find something that you like in the thousands of designs that they have, you can design your own fabric.  Wouldn't it be neat to make pillows from your child's artwork?  I found these old letters from the 1800's that my great grandmother wrote to my great grandfather so I had them printed on fabric.

Sorry that it is not a great photo.
I'm not sure about a project for this fabric yet, but I am happy with the results. All of the instructions for downloading your artwork are on the website.  It's easy!
Did I mention that they have neat cut and sew projects that would be perfect for someone new to sewing?
Check out this Sushi Pencil case...

Or how about these adorable Dinosaur Bibs?

You are seriously going to love Spoonflower so grab a cup of something warm, forget about all of the things that are vying for your time and enjoy!!

Felted wool- Warm and wonderful!

Hello from the frozen north!  Actually, today is tolerable but for the last week, we in Western New York have been shivering in the grips of the polar vortex!  When it is this cold, my thoughts turn to...wool!  As you know if you have visited my blog in the past, I am a lover of all things wool. If you are like me, you are going to love the site that I discovered recently.  It is called the Merry Hooker Woolens but I am calling it heaven! They have an awesome collection of hand dyed and mill dyed woolens, as well as patterns, books, and kits that are to "dye" for!  Here are some of my favorites:

I am thinking that I might have to start working on this sweet bird holding the cherry....maybe after I do the laundry...or maybe before I do the laundry!
In my book, you can never have too many table runners...or things with pears on them!
And who says that wool applique has to be primitive?  There are lots of new artists who are designing contemporary patterns that are just sooo cool.  Merry Hooker Woolens has a nice selection of bright hand dyed wools that will brighten even the gloomiest winter day.  Enjoy!
